Quiet Luxury

Quiet Luxury

In the world of fashion, where ostentation often rules the runway, a growing undercurrent craves the opposite. Envision a soft, cashmere sweater in muted tones or a bag so meticulously crafted that its seams are almost invisible. This isn't about the splashy logos or the tell-tale signs of opulence; it's the understated elegance that speaks volumes. Enter the realm of “quiet luxury."

“Quiet luxury is a new term, but this emphasis on timelessness and minimalism is an integral part of French women’s lifestyle," says expert Sophie Hersan. "We love effortless elegance.” We've all witnessed it, whether knowingly or not. That unassuming individual—fictional or not—who walks into a room, not draped in the expected glitz and glam, but wrapped in a cloak of refined taste. “But more than just an aesthetic, quiet luxury is also about having thoughtful shopping habits, focusing on those timeless investment pieces that will hold and sometimes even increase in value,” adds Hersan.

“Whether you're a start-up label or heritage fashion house, everyone wants a piece of the quiet luxury pie,” says Mark Bage, managing director of luxury sneaker discovery platform Sneak In Peace. “Bold, in-your-face graphics and overbranding have long been the standard, so it makes sense that things would swing the other way. These days, we’re seeing an increased focus on understated, minimal designs and tonal colour palettes. It's all very chic, and very sophisticated.”

Rich knits

A quiet luxe look can be all about the rich knits. While you might want to go for the eye-grabbing orange or pink, quiet luxury should be in more muted colors—like neutrals and earth tones.

Long Dresses

Another tenet of this fashion trend? Not baring too much skin, which is why long dresses are perfect. Consider it in a neutral and quiet luxury-friendly color palette like beige, which is anything but boring.

Logo free bags

“IYKYK” has become the slogan for quiet luxury. Nothing embodies this more than an ultra-luxe, logo-free bag. Sure, it might have cost an arm and a leg, but without a logo broadcasting that fact, only those in the know will recognize its value. In other words: If you know, you know.

Over sized Basics

Structured oversized garments are a great way to ooze quiet luxury.

Power Suits

Blazer dresses are the perfect power suit for the modern woman. Accessorize with classic wardrobe staples like a black handbag, pumps, and tights for a chic office outfit.

All Black Anything

An all-black outfit can be edgy, sure, but it can also read as quiet luxury. Just make sure that your pieces match exactly and that they're draping in all the right places. Keep jewelry to a minimum and add a contrasting handbag for dimension.

Dressy Coats

This monochromatic outfit is ultra chic. The creamy coat elevates the all-white ensemble. Plus, since cream is such a versatile color, you can layer this on top of pretty much any garment.
