Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in the textile industry. One of the pioneers of this transformation is Oeko-Tex. Oeko-Tex announced that it achieved great success in its last financial year. It issued more than 43,000 certifications and labels, marking a 21 percent increase in the period between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023, compared to the previous fiscal year.
The most striking among these certificates was the "Made in Green" product label. This label recorded a growth of 52 percent, representing one of Oeko-Tex's strong steps towards sustainability.
Oeko-Tex also launched two new certifications during the financial year, aimed at collaboration at all levels of the global supply chain. These new certifications help textile and leather companies reduce negative impacts from their internal business operations, supply chains and wider business relationships. It also enables businesses to meet due diligence requirements and respond to increasing global expectations.
Oeko-Tex has also taken a big step forward with its Organic Cotton program. This program aims to collaborate with a global network of certified companies from the cultivation stage of brands to the finished product to facilitate the supply of chemicals, ingredients and partners.
Oeko-Tex's achievements reflect the growing importance of sustainability and environmentally friendly practices in the textile industry. These efforts continue to advance with the aim of leaving a more sustainable world to future generations.
